If you are interested in pushing the limits of integrated photonics devices and revolutionizing their applications through hardware innovation, we are looking for you to join HyperLight’s growing team as a Product Development Engineer, where you will work directly with the R&D and product team to bring innovative products to the market. We are seeking highly motivated individuals who enjoy problem solving and will thrive in a collaborative environment.

Your core responsibilities will be:

  • Lead product development for applications in datacom / telecom and work closely with the product team to deliver revolutionary products.
  • Communicate with customers regarding specifications, timelines and deliverables.
  • Streamline, coordinate, and execute all aspects of the datacom/telecom product line including: device design, coordination with production, device performance validation, and quality control.
  • Communicate with leadership and all divisions of the company and align efforts to optimize time-to-market and achieve overall company priorities.

Desired qualification:

  • Graduate degree (Masters or PhD) in Electrical Engineering, Photonics, or related fields.
  • Minimum of 5 years work experience in product engineering, photonic design or photonic device characterization (relevant experience during graduate studies is counted).
  • Deep understanding of the working principles of integrated photonic devices, electro-optic modulators, and relevant applications.
  • Experienced in generating integrated photonic layouts.
  • Familiarity working with lasers, optical alignment/coupling, and high-speed electronics (e.g. fast photodiodes, oscilloscopes, VNAs).
  • Excellent project management skills and proven ability to coordinate complex tasks.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and participate in cross-functional activities.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience programming/scripting in Python a plus.
  • Authorization to work in the US.
